Bearer Token
A bearer token is the digital ID badge an AI assistant carries to prove it is allowed to use your app on a buyer's behalf
A bearer token is a short string of characters that acts like a digital ID badge. Whoever holds it ("bears" it) gets access — no password re-check needed.
When a buyer connects your app inside ChatGPT or Claude, the assistant gets handed one of these tokens. It then attaches the token to every request so your app knows the action is allowed.
Think of it as the wristband at an event: scan it once, walk in freely after.
Why it matters for the ChatGPT funnel
This is mostly under the hood, but here's the one thing to know.
The token is what lets the assistant act as a logged-in buyer without bugging them to sign in again mid-conversation.
Fewer login walls means fewer drop-offs. A buyer who never gets bounced out is a buyer who stays in the chat long enough to book. That's the whole game: keep the funnel friction-free from intent to meeting.
How drio fits
You don't have to think about this one.
drio issues, validates, and rotates these tokens for you across every assistant. The handshake that keeps a buyer authenticated through the booking is handled inside the MCP server — no setup, no security checklist on your end.
