Dynamic Client Registration (DCR)
The OAuth standard that lets an AI assistant connect to your app on the fly without anyone copy-pasting setup keys first
Dynamic Client Registration is an OAuth standard (RFC 7591) that lets a client register itself with a server automatically, at the moment it connects.
No one has to create an account, generate a key, and paste it in first. The app shows up, registers itself, and is ready to talk.
Why it matters for the ChatGPT funnel
ChatGPT and Claude connect to thousands of apps they discover on the spot.
If your app demanded a manual key setup before it would work, the assistant would skip it and the buyer would never reach you. DCR removes that wall. It is part of how an MCP client hooks into your MCP server instantly, so your app can actually get picked at the moment of intent instead of failing a handshake.
No registration step means no friction between buyer interest and your booking flow.
How drio fits
You do not have to think about this one. DCR, OAuth, and the whole connection handshake are handled for you when you ship a drio app. You focus on the offer and the booked lead. The protocol plumbing under the Model Context Protocol just works.
